RADICAL MEASURES TO CURB CHEATING IN EXAMS

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has introducedmeasures to manage this year’s national examinations in an attempt to restore confidence eroded by exam malpractice. Dr Matiang'i, who early this year stated that examinations had been clearly mismanaged in past years, began with the disbandment of the Kenya National Examinations Board in April. This was the first step in instituting radical changes in the Education sector. Unlike previous years when the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) would dispatch a supervisor to manage respective examination centres, this year will see principals of schools that are also examination centres take charge of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. School principals will be directly responsible for whatever happens in the centres and will be assisted by teachers in Job Group M and above. In previous years, a principal would hand over the centre to a Knec supervisor who would be charged with the exam process. KCSE candidates would be the only students in school as the rest would go home for holidays ahead of the National exams.
“We are comfortable with the changes and believe they will help achieve efficiency. We accept them as we watch what unfolds,” said one high school principal.
The KCSE examination period that normally starts around October 22 and ends mid-November was pushed forward as the CS adjusted the second and third term programmes. However, practical examinations that include agriculture will go on as usual.
The planned merger of examination centres that would see candidates registered in smaller centres brought together in one central point has now been pushed to next year.
This comes amid a wave of arson in schools across the country. The Education ministry resorted to shortening the examination period, changing the exam timetable, suspending general meetings and social activities including prayers and visits, and scrapping half-time breaks in third term to seal any loopholes to exam leaks that have led to cancelled exam results in the past.
Activities such as general meetings, prayer and prize giving days, according to the ministry can only be held in the first and second terms to minimise cheating through contacts and the use of mobile phones. In the changes announced by the CS, the second term programme that normally comes to a close on August 5, will be extended by one week to August 12. Students will break for about two weeks before resuming on August 29 for the start of the third term.
Third term will close on October 28 for Standard One to Seven and Form One to Three so that exam candidates are left alone, ready for the start of the Kenya Certificate of
Primary Education (KCPE) exams on November 1 to November 3 and KCSE exam between November 7 and November 30.
When he released the 2015 KCSE results in March this year, Matiang’i expressed disappointment with the increased irregularities and promised drastic measures to curb my them in future. A total of 522,870 candidates sat for the 2015 KCSE exams in the country 279,289 males and 243,581 females spread across 8,646 examination centres. Of these, 165,766 attained the minimum university entry qualification of C-plus and above. During the period, the number of candidates with an overall mean grade of A was 2,636.

Five Imperial Bank branches open today

Five Imperial Bank branches will open for the first time in nine months today to help process payments for the bank’s large depositors. The clients whose money is still held up at the bank will be allowed to access a maximum of Sh1.5 million only in the second phase of payouts to depositors of the collapsed lender. Four of the five branches to be opened are in the Coast region while only one is in Nairobi. The five are Watamu, Diani, Kilifi, Malindi and Parklands branches. The payments are being managed by NIC Bank which was appointed by receiver manager Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation as asset and liability consultant for Imperial Bank. Under the deal, NIC Bank is expected to assess and determine the quality of Imperial Bank’s assets and liabilities and give the mandate to process and manage payouts to depositors. To access their locked funds, claimants will have to complete the KDIC/NIC Bank claim forms, which are available online at the two institutions’ websites and at NIC Bank branches. Last Wednesday, Imperial Bank shareholders supported the move to pay depositors up to Sh1.5 million but asked the KDIC and the Central Bank of Kenya to conduct the collapsed bank’s operations in a transparent manner. “The shareholders of Imperial Bank Limited (in receivership) have given their consent for the Kenya Depositors Insurance Corporation to liquidate the bank’s treasury bills to facilitate the Sh1.5million payout announced by CBK,” said the bank’s directors in a statement issued on July 20. “We have had the depositors at the heart of our fight for the bank. In spite of all the legal proceedings, it is our priority that the depositors are not inconvenienced further or even worse than they have already endured,” said Vishnu Dhutia, a representative of one of the shareholders. A forensic audit of Imperial Bank commissioned by the CBK is ongoing. The probe by US-based firm FTI Consulting has reportedly an intricate web of fraud, linking various companies associated with companies owned or operated by associates of the bank’s late managing director Abdulmalek Janmohamed.

WHEN THE SWEET "FRUIT" BECOMES BITTER

The rate at which lovers are killing each other over domestic squabbles in the country is alarming. On Sunday, a Kenyatta University student was murdered in cold blood by her boyfriend in Kahawa Wendani, in an incident that has left Kenyans shocked. Maxwell Ochieng, 36, who is a former KDF soldier mercilessly stabbed 22-year-old Edinas Nyainda after she reportedly told him that they should break up. The ex-military did not take the breakup news lightly, prompting him to tie the lady to the bed and then proceed to heartlessly stabbing her on the neck and chest repeatedly. After killing Edinas, who had just graduated from KU a week ago, Ochieng attempted to take his life by stabbing himself on the stomach severally to no avail, even as police broke into the house after three hours. Ochieng being carried away after he tried to kill himself Police were forced to use teargas to access the house, where they lived with the deceased after the killer threatened to kill anyone attempting to get inside. The suspect was arrested, as an angry mob bayed for his blood, and is being held at Ruiru Police Station while the body was taken to City Mortuary. Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo, visited the scene of the murder and condemned the attack urging lovers to part ways peacefully if their relationships are not working out.

POLICE SEARCH FOR 300 SCHOOL GIRLS IN A BUSH

Police officers in Meru County had a hard time trying to trace about 400 school girls on Sunday night. The girls are said to be from Ruiga Girls Secondary School in Meru County. They had descended to the nearby bushes after their school caught fire at around 5 pm. The whereabouts of some of their colleagues remains unknown.
Police officers from the neighboring police stations spent the better part of the cold night searching for the girls while teachers helped to put out the fire. However, the efforts bore no fruit as they did not find any student in the night search. According to Imenti Central OCPD Boniface Lisiolo, some of the girls sort refuge at the nearby police station while others are believed to have gone to their homes.
A dormitory, dining hall and science laboratory were torched down yesterday night making Ruiga girls school among the schools that were burnt Sunday night as the arson attacks continues. STUDENTS ARRESTED IN VOI

Two students in Voi were arrested early today morning with jerrycans of petrol. It is alleged that the students wanted to burned down their school.
the OCPD confirmed that this can be due to devil worshiping cases that is rising so faster in the high schools.
t also emerged the gunman is a policeman who was serving at same station. Sources said the officer turned against his colleagues and shot them dead before he was killed by GSU commandos. "In the ensuing clearance and identification, the gunman who was earlier suspected to be an inmate held in the cells, turned out to be a local police officer who for yet unknown reasons, went berserk and grabbed a firearm from the Report Office at about 5am, which he used to attack other officers," read a statement from the office of the Inspector General of Police.

WOMAN DESTROYS HER CHEATING HUSBAND'S CAR

My name is Joyce Kandie. Another woman eloped with my husband since December, 2015. My husband never comes home, he never gives me money for food and upkeep, and he has changed his mobile phone contact,” the irked wife told Citizen Digital.
“I have been following up on his movements, and I learnt of his whereabouts,” she added.
“He moved me into a house that whose rent is Ksh4,000. Prior to relocation, I used to live in an apartment where I paid a monthly rent of Ksh15, 000. My child is ailing; he’s been having a running stomach for two weeks. When I request for money to take the child to hospital from my husband, he refuses; instead, he tells me to borrow money from a maize vendor who is my friend.”
Kandie said she has reported her unfaithful husband to authorities, but action is yet to be taken.
“He has been summoned several times by children’s rights authorities, but he ignores it. He used to visit me every once in a while, but now he hardly shows up – and he even stopped going to work. I think the woman has used black magic charms on him,” said Kandie.

And still on her gripe, Kandie said: “The kind of house I am currently living in is in a bad state! There are snakes around, and the sanitation is deplorable! The pit latrines are full to the brim, and there’s no tapped water. I am forced to draw water from a borehole.”
End game: What does Kandie want – now that her marriage seems to have hit rock bottom?
“I want a divorce. My husband has been threatening to kill me, and he often tells me: “I am already a dead person”. He says I smell like a dead person – since November. He further claims I am not in his “class”. He has disowned me saying I am not his wife. I have already reported the matter to authorities. He has excitedly foreboded my death.”
Before opting for divorce, has she sought the intervention of family members from both sides?
“I have spoken with his family members, who sided with me. However, he fell out with them, but later reconciled and they all ganged up against me; saying I left my husband in April, 2016 and went to Nairobi.
“I went to Syokimau to save myself from being beaten to death. He later reported at the children’s rights authorities that I am insane, and that I am planning to kill the children,” said a vexed Kandie.
“He made his son who has completed secondary education to share a room with my daughter who is in Form One; and when I complained, he says I am illiterate and all I can think of is sex. He has accused me of sleeping with two of his workmates,” she lamented.
Kandie says she has been supportive of her husband – who, according to her, had nothing in terms of wealth to boast of a few years ago.
“This man was a clerk before, when I used to work. He has fleeced me of my money. I took bank loans to bankroll his lifestyle. Now that I am unemployed and penniless he doesn’t think I am fit enough to be his wife. He’s been beating me senseless. I lost one of my teeth as result of his constant battery,” vented Kandie.
According to Kandie she resorted to destroying her husband’s Land Rover Defender because she’d gone to ask him for money at the mpango wa kando’s house – but he became hostile toward her.
“I had gone to the room he’s rented for the other woman to ask for food and upkeep money. Instead of giving me money – or telling me he does not have any, he rained blows and kicks on me. And when I saw he was overpowering me I decided to destroy his vehicle.”

BEIJING LOSES BATTLE OVER SOUTH CHINA....

A tribunal in The Hague has rejected China's claims to economic rights across large swathes of the South China Sea. "There was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the 'nine-dash line'," the court said. This was a reference to a demarcation line on a 1947 map of the sea, which is rich in energy, mineral and fishing resources. In the 497-page ruling, judges also found that Chinese law enforcement patrols had risked colliding with Philippine fishing vessels in parts of the sea and caused irreparable damage to coral reefs with construction work. China, which boycotted the case brought by the Philippines, has said it will not abide by any ruling. Its state media had already delivered their verdict well before the announcement in The Hague. "Arbitration Invalid," declared the front page of the China Daily newspaper on Tuesday morning, many hours before the actual result. "Beijing will not step back, and will not allow what it sees as a wolf-pack scheme to succeed," it had earlier warned. A pre-emptive PR campaign has been ramping up for weeks, insisting that China is in the right and the case is an attack on its sovereignty. The narrative being pushed strongly is that China is not the aggressor, it is the victim merely trying to defend its national interests against those who seek to undermine and contain it (by which it means the United States). The US comes into this despite not taking a position on the individual territorial disputes (China, Vietnam, The Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia all lay claim to parts of the sea). It has, however, been carrying out what it calls 'freedom of navigation patrols' through the waters, effectively rejecting China's claim to territorial waters around its artificial islands. It is also a treaty ally of the Philippines. Admiral Harry Harris, head of the US Pacific Command, has previously warned that China is militarizing the South China Sea. "You'd have to believe in a flat earth to think otherwise," he said. The Philippines government brought the case in 2013 to challenge China's claim to maritime rights around the artificial islands it has created, and the validity of the "nine- dash line", which draws a boundary around about 90% of the sea and claiming it for China. Tuesday's ruling will not determine the issue of sovereignty over these features - who has a legitimate claim - but it is nevertheless the first time any legal challenge has been brought in the South China Sea, and the first test of whether international law will be respected. The decision is legally-binding but without a body to enforce it the next steps will likely be determined by the respective parties themselves. There are several measures China could take in the short term if it chooses to up the ante, including building on the disputed Scarborough Shoal reef, which is closer to Manila than its other outposts. It could also attempt to drag the Philippines navy ship Sierra Madre from its position on Second Thomas Shoal, or declare an Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ) over the area. The PLA Navy has been carrying out live- firing drills in the sea in the run-up to this judgement routine it insists, just a coincidence of timing. But it may also see an opportunity for dialogue. The Philippines has a new president, who despite threatening (during his election campaign) to ride a jet-ski out to confront the Chinese positions, has recently indicated he may be open to talks with Beijing. What is clear is that this ruling is by no means the end of this issue - the rising tensions in the South China Sea are from resolved.

WHO IS RAILA'S 2017 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIADATE?

Just after Ababu Namwamba made his grand exit from ODM, in what many a people termed as a political suicide to the young lawmaker, it was alluded that CORD has some ground in Western block.  Sources now reveal that the ODM kingpin is now having another strategy that seems well crafted  to face the next years general election.
CORD leader Raila Odinga has been holding secret meetings with Amani National Congress(ANC) leader, Musalia Mudavadi in what close Mudavadi aides are saying is aimed at crafting a strategy which will see Raila support Mudavadi in next years polls.
According to sources from close Mudavadi aides, Raila is deeply considering opting out of the 2017 polls to leave Mudavadi and Kalonzo, whom he highly believes can defeat UhuRuto, face the Jubilee candidate at the polls.
ANC chairman Nakuru branch , Simon Wesile, speaking on Thursday in  Nakuru , said that in what might surprise many,  Raila might make the unexpected move of supporting Mudavadi.  He went further to say that Raila’s political star is dimming and he is keen to avoid another embarrassment at the ballot by supporting Mudavadi.
‘‘There are meetings going on and things are being worked on and we will see  what that yields but I know Raila has the option of supporting Mudavadi and he is considering it’’said Wesile.
‘‘he sees Mudavadi as the best placed person to get Jubilee out of power and wants to use him to do that because his main aim is to see Jubilee  out of power,’’ he said.
‘‘Raila knows that his chances of winning 2017 are minimal and that is why he sees Mudavadi and Kalonzo as the best candidates to battle it out with Jubilee,’’he said.
Wesile’s  statement may not be greeted well will ‘Baba’s’ diehard supporters. what is for sure is the fact that it is just a couple of days ago that Musalia Mudavadi launched a scathing attack on  Raila for mistreating Luhyas in ODM,after Paul Otuoma and Ababu Namwamba exited ODM.
It the same Mudavadi who said that ODM  has miserably failed to represent the hopes, interests and aspirations of Luhya community and that it is a party that specializes in political posturing and gerrymandering with no clear and long-term tangible agenda.
Whether Wesile’s statements are facts we can rely on is still a pending question. Though many political analysts have said ousting the UhuRuto regime is will be Agwambo’s biggest achievement of all time, leave alone being a president.
Can Raila Amollo Odinga support Musalia Mudavadi? that is for you readers to decide.

RUTO IS BLACKMAILING KIKUYUS, CLAIMS SENATOR PAUL NJOROGE

Nominated Senator Paul Njoroge has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto's allies are blackmailing the Kikuyu community by threatening to evict those in Rift Valley if the do not support the DP in 2022

Njoroge also said that Ruto's supporters are also threatening to frustrate President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid in 2017 if support for Ruto is not guaranteed

Despite threats of being kicked out of Senate , Njoroge has maintained that Uhuru's promise to support Ruto was personal and did not bind the Kikuyu community

The debate on Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid seems to be far from ending even after President Uhuru Kenyatta's assurance.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was, on June 28, forced to reiterate his support for Ruto's bid after a Jubilee senator claimed that the backing was not guaranteed.

"His excellency the president has been categorical about the 2022 Jubilee ticket. He has made it very clear that the party will fully back Deputy President William Ruto," State House Senior Director of Public Communication Munyori Buku said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto had entered a pre-2013 election pact that they would support each other's presidential ambitions.

However, the senator - Paul Njoroge - later said the State House's assurance was personal.

"He (Uhuru) never said it on behalf of the Kikuyu community, he said it on his own

behalf," he told The Star, as published on Saturday, July 2. In the interview with the paper, Paul Njoroge maintained that Ruto would not easily get support from the Kikuyu community as some leaders want him to believe.  Senator Paul Njoroge further accused Ruto's  allies of blackmailing the Kikuyu community in order to have their support after Uhuru's second term (if he gets re-elected in 2017).

First, according to the senator, Ruto's men  threaten to ditch Uhuru's re-election bid if they are not guaranteed of the Kikuyu's support in 2022.

"They have been instilling fear in our people in the Rift Valley and all over, telling them that if you don't vote for Ruto in 2022, he will make sure that Uhuru doesn't win in 2017," Njoroge told the paper. He dismissed this saying that Uhuru could easily win in 2017 even without Ruto's

support. According to Njoroge, Uhuru is a sincere, hard-working and likable person who

can be loved by anyone.

Secondly, the nominated lawmaker claimed that there are threats that the Kikuyu community in the Rift Valley would be kicked out if they failed to vote for Ruto.

"The other fear is, if you don't vote Ruto in 2022, you will be kicked out of the Rift Valley… They are promising the deputy president a seat because of fear, not because they want," he said.

This, he warned, could lead to violence similar to that experienced after the 2007 elections. Senator Paul Njoroge's statements have raised concerns among Ruto's allies as they came just weeks after another top politician from Mount Kenya region had similar views.

Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter said it was not a coincident that Paul Njoroge and Kiambu Governor William Kabogo's sentiments were similar.

"You can say he is a drunk. The second person repeats the same and he is branded mad… We should be asking, since when did a mad man and a drunk start understanding each other to agree on something?" said Keter as quoted by Daily Nation. Governor William Kabogo and DP William Ruto hugging each other at a function in Kuresoi. Ruto said Kabogo only advised him to look for

votes allover Kenya. DP Ruto has since urged members of the Jubilee coalition to stop discussing his 2022 presidential bid and instead focus on the 2017 general election. Speaking at Kipkeikei Boys High School in Trans Nzoia county on Saturday, July 2, Ruto said that the leaders should concentrate on how Uhuru will retain the seat in 2017 before they discuss the succession.

"I want to ask all those who are introducing unnecessary debates about 2022 to stop. The contest that is present in the arena is the 2017 race," he said. Uhuru and his deputy Ruto had entered a

pre-2013 election pact that they would support each other's presidential ambitions.

According to their pact, Uhuru is to serve until 2022 after which he will back and hopefully hand

over power to Ruto.

MUDAVADI LASHES OUT AT RAILA, AFTER ABABU'S EXIT

Ababu Namwamba resigned as the ODM party secretary general over what he said is being sidelined.Paul Otwoma too resigned as the party vice chairman. The move has been welcomed by ANC leader

Musalia Mudavadi.Mudavadi has blasted Raila for mistreating Luhyas in ODM.He has also hit out at Jubilee for sidelining the Luhya community.
Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has launched a scathing attack on
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga following the exit of Ababu Namwamba as the party secretary general.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, Mudavadi welcomed Ababu’s exit from the party and took the opportunity to blast the ODM leadership for what he said is mistreatment of members of the Luhya community in the party.
Mudavadi also said that ODM has failed to live up to the promises it made to the people of Western Kenya, and wants Ababu to join him to chat a way forward ahead of the 2017 polls.
Mudavadi also hit out at the Jubilee government who he said have sidelined the Luhya community in terms of development.
Here is his statement in full:

“The continued acrimonious exit from ODM by key leaders from Luhyaland is yet another confirmation that ODM has miserably failed to represent the hopes, interests and aspirations of Luhya community and that it is a party that specializes in political posturing and gerrymandering with no clear and long-term tangible agenda.
Ababu and the other leaders who have been frustrated and marginalized in ODM are unconditionally welcomed to ANC if they are uncomfortable in ODM because it is their natural home.
This has come at a time when Luhya community is reflecting and soul searching following a series of recent political events namely, aftermath of 2013 elections that for the first time since independence consigned the region to political wilderness, the resignation of senior leaders such as Fred Gumo and Kennath Marende from ODM, marginalization by the non-inclusive Jubilee government, collapsing regional economy and sugar industry and lately the rude and shocking revelation by CORD Senators:
Johnston Muthama and James Orengo, that Ford Kenya headed by Moses Wetangula was not part
of the CORD MOU for Presidency. The truth is that ODM has failed as a trusted and genuine champion of the interests and aspirations of the Luhya people. In fact they cannot account for the massive votes they got from the Luhyas across the country. Jubilee has perfected the two community hegemony and discrimination and cannot be trusted by Luhyas. Jubilee and CORD are ideologically the same in the eyes of the Luhya people. It does not matter what the leadership of the two coalitions does between now and 2017; the writing is on the wall.
Political parties and presidential aspirants should not only engage Luhyas for votes but react negatively if challenged for genuine partnership, mutual respect and equal competition.
We want to give meaning to the constitutional provision for democracy, political Justice, regional and ethnic diversity plus accountable leadership. We want to anchor issue based politics as opposed to ethnic engineering that powers our competitors.”

IMPECCABLE SOCIETY

By Lynn Kolongei

It was once a spotless, blameless, flawless, perfect and immaculate society. A society that shaped one into the physique desired and adored by every nook and cranny. A society it was that embraced all its children under one umbrella of love. However, time has elapsed and things have changed since change is as good as rest. In this century has seen the emergence of yet another society. A different society, no longer impeccable. Unfortunately we have changed for the worst, witnessing erosion of our cultures and annihilation of our morals and codes of conduct dictated by our elders. Due to this, I can say that it is a fact that old is gold.
There are things that now take the better part of our lives wasting our valuable time for nothing. Many events and stories now trend in the social media platforms. However, such stories could not even be imagined in the minds of those who got the chance to have a glimpse and taste of our past society. It is a safe bet to say that our society is now rotten due to many issues arising such as hate speech, sex, alcoholism, and theft. All these can be grasped as moral decay forgetting not insecurity that has been realized everywhere in our larger society; the globe.
To begin with hate speech, it is incredible to hear that nations now speak ill about each other. While we thought the 21st Century would chip in with greener pastures the opposite has been realized. It has been as they say receiving a snake while you have requested for a loaf of bread. No sooner had we brought colonialism to an end than we trusted that peace would now be talk on everyone’s lips. Peace between various nations and races knowing that we all “the blacks and whites” are the same: all with blood beneath our skins. Recently, whites and blacks still fight, for instance, USA presidential aspirant Donald Trump has spoken with venom about African society and especially Kenya. This he has done, tarnishes Kenya’s international image. Seconding him is Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe taking a dig about Kenyans stealing. Can you imagine some other foreigners saying that your country is full of lazy people only good at love making and that hell was designed for them as they think there will be room for love making in hell? Some of their sentiments could be true but where did the good neighborhood spirit of helping a dying friend go?
Alcoholism has been another great challenge such that finding a teetotaler has become so difficult. Even the young people drink to the point of death ending their lives before enjoying the good thing that life can offer. This alcoholism has left millions impecunious unable to affect anything in terms of basic needs. One could be caparigeed and smart but later in the night sleeps in a ditch. A woman was reportedly said to have been seen bathing in the public while drunk, could she be someone’s mother or darling wife? Alcoholism leads to so much fornication, among the young people and especially the university students. High school students too sneak out of schools just to have that drop of alcohol or maybe a gulp and end up being drunkards and sex addicts. Men especially in Nyeri concentrate more in drinking forgetting about the women at homes and children. Other than many ladies chopping off their husband’s pubic parts, many marriages have fallen, broken causing divorces and separation, the children moving to the streets as paupers.
Moreover, theft has been realized in our societies from the top rolling class to the bottom pupil cheating in their examination. With that I allude to a case that was witnessed in South Africa. Kenyan ladies abundantly blessed by mother nature with perfect body pants and 5 senses were caught stealing meat and hiding them in their clothes. Various government officials have also been said to have stolen billions of money from the government, a fact that many have denied terming themselves as pure, innocent humans faithfully serving the nation as faithful pet dogs.
Insecurity has become an issue difficult to handle. You cannot even dare trust your own sibling because everyone has become like an infantry ready to deceive you with a planned rise. Terrorists like Al-shabaab, Boko- Haram just to mention a few have caused great tension and lack of composure among people. In addition, many people have lost their lives without a clear cause of the death apart from marks due to stabbing or a corpse without a head.
All those vices were unheard of in the ancient times of our forefathers. It is therefore possible to eradicate them and once again go back to our roots. It is time that we go back to basics, follow the code of conduct in our societies and have that alluring society without a fleck. # Back to our roots.

THE HOT LECTURER

You’ve told yourself that all lecturers are forbidden fruit and you’re openly repulsive towards ladies who date their teachers. How do they do it? I mean, how do you face him in the lecture hall when all you can think about are the little nothings he texted you last night? How do you not wink at him while he’s trying to make everybody understand Hess’s Law? Just how do you keep a straight face in class when you know some silly and laughable things about him?
Wait for it…

Everything changes when you catch him stealing a glance at you during a CAT. You suddenly notice that his eyes are a cute pair and you wouldn’t mind to find them staring at yours every morning when you wake up. You notice he has tidy nails too. Then you like his cologne. And the way he speaks, plus how he authoritatively walks into the lecture hall and everybody shuts up (I swear this is
so silly).

A few weeks later, he has your number and you’re secretly meeting up at high-end joints, because he wants to treat you like a queen. He even buys you that Tecno Phantom that you’ve been daydreaming about. It’s a dream come true and nobody’s going to ruin this for you. No. You won’t even let your girlfriends talk you out of it. You have found the man of your dreams. This is it.

Months later and he hasn’t taken you to his hood yet. It’s about time you started dropping hints at his place. Like forgetting your earrings at his place. Or your bra. Or your doll shoes. Come on girls, you know how we do these things. Getting married in installments. Hehe Back to our hot Prof. He doesn’t want you to come to his place yet because he thinks it’s too soon and you’re taking none of this crap.

You decide to play CSI just to find out the truth behind this. It doesn’t take too long to realize that the pig is married, with 3 kids, and a fourth one still baking! Dunia haina huruma. There’s no more guts left in you to even date a toad. You have given up on humanity. Maybe you were meant to be a nun after all. You find solace in spirituality and end up becoming a regular church going campus
student. You become so serious with church that you join a bible study group, looking forsanity and maybe God.

Enter the ALTER BOY. He is cool, calm and collected and one of the very few gentlemen you’ve ever come across. He treats you like a gem, like you’re the only thing that matters. He clearly likes you, owing to the early-morning and late night ‘Praise the Lord’ texts he sends, religiously.
This guy motivates you, believes in you and wants the best of you. You finally feel safe and at home with this guy. He strives to do the right things because he fears a higher power and you feel like you
just hit the relationship jackpot. This is perfectly fine except you feel there’s something amiss. You can’t really point it out. Maybe it’s the fact he can’t hug you or hold your hand in public. Maybe it’s because all your conversations are centered on the Bible and you begin to get bored. You now
think he deserves better. A good girl. One who can take the narrow way, which you’re clearly not made for. Is there a Bible verse that kinda says, ‘I can’t do this anymore?

Let’s break up?’ Your heart is broken and you’re feeling weary already. At this rate, you consider trying dating after campus since nothing seems to be working for you. MY TWO CENTS : When it comes to love, work with what you have. You might not find what you’ve always wanted but hey, give a brother the chance to prove his worth jamaneni.

CLAIMS THAT OBURU IS RUINING ODM

The current revolts in ODM have been associated with Raila Odinga’s brother –Jaoko Oburu Odinga. Bondo member of parliament Gideon Ochanda claims that Oburu has not taken it easy on party members who have had different opposing opinions to Raila. This, he has said has displeased many members terming it as undemocratic.
According to The Star, it is reported that on Friday ,July 1,Ochanda accused Dr Oburu of calling those with contrary opinions as ‘moles’ and even prohibiting them from attending functions attended by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy  (CORD) leader Raila Odinga.
Among those who had been branded moles by Oburu Odinga are Ugenya Member of Parliament David Ochieng, Gem’s Jackayo Midiwo, Rongo’s Dalmas Otieno and Rarieda’s Nicholas Gumbo after expressing their difference in opinions.
Words on the streets have it that Oburu; by ODM to parliament to represent the youth is very close to his younger brother Raila Odinga.
The Daily Nation reported on Sunday ,July 3,that  ‘Those familiar with the interaction between the two say that when faced with a tough situation, both in the political arena and family, the former Prime Minister will turn to his brother for advice.
